I was honored to witness AB463 be signed into law. This bill impacts the practice of prior authorization by health insurance providers. The law modifies how insurance companies interact with Physicians to approve diagnostic tests and treatments, and aims to reduce the time to diagnose and treat patients. This will save lives as patients (especially those with life threatening diseases) will be seen, diagnosed, and treated more quickly. You can read more about this and see a video of the moment on the NBC 3 News website.
My thanks go out to Nevada Assemblymember Shea M. Backus for sponsoring the bill, the Nevada Legislature for approving the bill, and Governor Joe Lombardo for signing the bill into law.
Thanks also to Nevada State Medical Association policy director Jacqueline Nguyen, Esq., and to The Perkins Company.
